Lachlan is a high-spirited orthoptist, driven by a passion for helping children and adults with orthoptic issues including lazy vision (amblyopia), double vision and eye movement disorders.
After obtaining his Master of Orthoptics in Melbourne, Lachlan moved to Adelaide to commence his orthoptic career. He has since worked across a wide range of public and private practices, and has a current public appointment at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Lachlan is committed to advancing the level of care provided to individuals and families impacted by chronic eye disease. During his PhD studies at Flinders University, Lachlan has investigated and published several peer-reviewed articles which report the impact of childhood glaucoma on children, adults and their parents. He has also presented at many national and international orthoptic and ophthalmology conferences and has been invited several times to speak at patient support charity meetings.
Lachlan is dedicated to advancing the field of orthoptics, having served as a Director of Orthoptics Australia and the South Australian Representative. He is also actively engaged in teaching and developing the skills of the next generation of eye care professionals to ensure that South Australians continue to have access to high-quality and effective eye care.
Finally, outside of all things work, Lachlan enjoys an active and balanced lifestyle. He enjoys group fitness, hiking, swimming, cooking, and travelling. He has also been learning Italian.
